Choose your Lembongan landing before choosing the cheapest ticket. For a Bali to Nusa Lembongan ferry, compare Jungut Batu, Mushroom Bay and Telatak against your accommodation, the boarding arrangement and the final transfer. A convenient landing with a confirmed hotel pickup can be worth more than a small saving on the sea crossing.
Start with your hotel’s full name and location pin. Send them to the carrier or accommodation and ask which arrival they can collect you from, what it costs and what happens if the boat arrives elsewhere. “Lembongan” on a search result is not a complete arrival plan, particularly with suitcases, children or limited mobility.
Three arrival names that change the journey
The Bali Ferries Lembongan route listing shows Sanur departures with different island endpoints. These are published route examples, not confirmed departures for your dates.
| Arrival | Examples on the route listing | Decision to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Jungut Batu | D’Camel and Arthamas Express | Can your hotel collect you at the named operator’s landing, with all your bags? |
| Mushroom Bay | Tanis Fast Cruise | Does arriving here reduce your final transfer, and what is the disembarkation method? |
| Telatak harbor | Rocky Fast Boat | Is the private-harbor arrival and your onward transport confirmed for the ticket? |
Do not interpret an operator name as a guarantee of a particular vessel, boarding system or free transfer. The route, ticket conditions and booking confirmation need to agree. If your accommodation is across on Ceningan, ask it to describe the entire pickup, including any change of vehicle and luggage handling, before choosing a landing.
A useful comparison is simple: boat fare + Bali hotel-to-port journey + landing-to-hotel transfer + any baggage or local charges. Request the same comparison for the return. A cheap outbound ticket can lose its advantage if its return landing or transfer does not fit your next stop.
Dry boarding is useful, but it does not establish accessibility
Rocky’s own website advertises jetty-to-jetty service between New Sanur Harbour and its private harbor in Telatak Village. That is a relevant option to investigate when avoiding a beach landing matters. It is a carrier description, not an independent accessibility assessment or a promise that every substituted sailing will use the same arrangement.
Ask about both ends of the crossing: steps, gaps, gangway movement, handrails, assistance and the distance from the drop-off point. For a wheelchair, stroller or someone who cannot manage steps, describe the actual requirement rather than asking only whether the boat is “accessible.” Obtain a specific answer from the operating carrier before payment.
For other services, establish whether arrival involves a pier, beach, shallow water or a smaller connecting boat on your date. A photograph of a terminal on Bali does not establish how you will disembark on Lembongan. Keep documents and essential electronics in a protected bag you can manage yourself, while confirming how larger luggage is handled.
Plan the hotel journey, not just the advertised crossing
The Bali Ferries route page shows sea legs commonly labeled around 30–45 minutes. Those indications exclude your road transfer, check-in, waiting, unloading and final island journey. They should not be used as a door-to-door arrival promise.
Work backward from the carrier’s required check-in, then add the road journey from your actual Bali accommodation. For example, Rocky’s FAQ asks passengers to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure and present a booking confirmation. That is Rocky’s published instruction; follow any earlier requirement on your own ticket and confirm the correct counter or office.
Keep four details together: the seller’s booking reference, the carrier’s name, the check-in location and the island pickup contact. Tell the island driver which boat you are on and how to reach you. If the carrier changes the arrival point, notify the driver before setting off in search of transport.
Ask whether a hotel transfer is private or shared, whether your exact address is covered, and whether it ends at reception or another drop-off. Clarify the vehicle and child arrangements where relevant. For the return trip, confirm the collection time separately; do not assume the outbound pickup automatically books the return.
Baggage: get one answer for your actual booking
Rocky’s public documents disagree. Its FAQ describes one bag up to 20 kg plus hand luggage; its terms describe two pieces with a combined 30 kg limit. A third baggage page uses a different allowance again and different wording for extra items. Do not select whichever version gives you the largest allowance.
Send the seller and carrier your bag count, weights and dimensions, plus any surfboard, stroller or diving equipment. Request confirmation of carriage, any charge and the rule that applies to your fare. If an oversized item is essential and nobody will confirm it, investigate another carrier before buying.
As a separate example, the Tanis FAQ states an allowance of up to 25 kg checked baggage of normal proportions plus hand luggage. It is general carrier guidance, not permission to apply that allowance to another operator or to assume an unusually large item will be accepted.
Compare direct booking with a booking intermediary
A comparison site can help identify available combinations of carriers and landings. Direct booking gives you another channel for asking the operator about boarding and luggage. Neither route is automatically cheaper or more protective; compare the same sailing, passengers, transfer and cancellation conditions.
Bali Ferries’ ferry booking conditions identify it as an intermediary and say operator terms prevail where they conflict. They also make complimentary operator pickup conditional. Check your own transfer confirmation rather than assuming a shuttle badge guarantees collection.
For an eligible cancellable ferry ticket, those terms specify a request at least 48 hours before departure, a US$10 cancellation fee and exclusions for some fares and charges. A return booking’s deadline is tied to the outbound departure. These are published ferry conditions, not a universal cancellation promise for every product.
Weather cancellation needs a more precise question
Rocky’s FAQ offers refund or rescheduling language for bad-weather cancellation, while its terms exclude refunds for a government or harbormaster sailing ban or bad-weather warning. These statements do not justify a blanket “fully refundable in bad weather” claim. Ask which clause applies if the captain cancels, the harbor closes or you decide not to travel.
The same terms exclude responsibility for connecting flights and additional accommodation or alternative transport. A ticket refund, where available, therefore should not be treated as cover for your wider itinerary. This is a description of the published wording, not an assessment of its legal enforceability.
For a costly onward flight, consider returning to Bali on an earlier day and keeping room for disruption. No particular buffer guarantees the connection. If a service is canceled, first establish the replacement date and landing, then contact your hotel and transfer provider. Keep written cancellation notices and ask the original seller to explain the refund process before purchasing a replacement.
The booking that fits your stay
Prioritize a confirmed pickup from the right landing if you are carrying bulky luggage or arriving with children. Investigate the jetty option if boarding is the deciding factor, but obtain specific assistance details. If you travel light and can arrange the final transfer independently, a ticket-only fare may be sufficient.
Before paying, you should be able to name the carrier, both ports, check-in point, accepted luggage, final transfer and cancellation route. If the cheapest option leaves one of your essential needs unresolved, compare another sailing or operator.
