LuggageToShip arranges suitcase and sports-equipment shipments through carrier partners, but a good trip outcome depends on more than whether a shipping label can be purchased. The key questions are who moves the bag, which risks the contract leaves with you, whether a recipient can accept the delivery and how you would manage a late or missing suitcase.

This independent LuggageToShip review draws on the company’s published shipping terms, operational FAQ, public Trustpilot feedback and New York BBB business profile, reviewed on October 22, 2026. It is not a first-hand shipment test or a guarantee that a specific route, fee or service will be available.

What LuggageToShip actually does—and who handles the bag

Under its description of services, Luggage To Ship quotes, arranges and facilitates shipments; the customer selects a carrier, with FedEx and DHL named as partners in the company FAQ. The carrier physically transports the package. A hotel, residence staff member or other receiving party may make the final handoff possible—or cause it to fail.

That split is crucial. LuggageToShip can coordinate labels, contact a carrier and submit claim paperwork, but its contract says carrier or third-party insurance organizations make claim determinations. An email from the booking platform is not equivalent to the carrier accepting liability for your missed event, replacement purchase or lost trip time.

Is LuggageToShip legitimate? Company identity and independent records

The live terms and conditions name “Luggage To Ship Inc.” as the website operator. However, the BBB listing for its New York business profile describes an LLC at a New York address and currently shows an F rating and non-accredited status, including BBB-reported unanswered complaints. That legal-form mismatch should not be quietly reconciled: the publicly examined pages do not establish the exact corporate relationship or which entity appears on a particular payment agreement. Ask for the legal billing entity on the checkout receipt if that matters to your purchase.

BBB also has a Palo Alto Luggage To Ship complaint profile. Different addresses and profiles should not be merged into a single numeric complaint count, and a BBB grade is not a court finding of fraud. The actionable point is to inspect who contracts with you, who charges your card and what the service actually promises.

Trustpilot’s public page showed an approximately 4.6/5 TrustScore and about 1,650 reviews when inspected on October 22, 2026. Ratings and review totals can change, and the distribution is not a representative scientific sample of all shipments. Favorable feedback often describes helpful support, while critical reports describe missed pickup appointments, customs bills, delayed shipments or disputed damage compensation. A positive support interaction and a successful delivery are related but different outcomes.

Prices: compare the final payable amount, not the advertised discount

There is no defensible all-purpose LuggageToShip shipping price. The booking form requests origin, destination, shipping date and item category. The rate-adjustment clause says the final bill can use verified dimensions and actual or dimensional weight, with additional fees for address corrections, remote delivery, shipment holds, re-pickups, rerouting and returns. The terms describe dimensional weight as length × width × height in inches divided by 139.

For a real round trip, request both outbound and return quotes, using the actual case dimensions and each service level. Add destination handling charges, optional protection, possible carrier surcharges and the cost of being without the items. Compare against the exact airline fare and baggage allowance, not against a hypothetical high checked-bag fee. The U.S. Department of Transportation explains that airline optional-service and bag fees must be disclosed in the booking flow; charges for oversized or overweight bags may differ. The conditions that matter most: collection, timing and handoff

The pickup FAQ says couriers may not call before collection and tells customers to have the bag labeled and available and ensure that it is scanned. It also notes that a scheduled pickup may be canceled or delayed. The merchant terms say international express, international economy and U.S. domestic basic services are outside its delivery-delay claim program; estimated dates are not guaranteed.

  • Before collection: get the label correctly attached, photograph the bag and label, and have a person available to hand it over. Keep the first tracking scan or staffed drop-off receipt.
  • Before destination delivery: confirm that a named adult, hotel or resort can accept the shipment, including early arrival. “Delivered” on tracking is not the same as “ready for you at check-in.”
  • Before the trip: travel with documents, necessary medicine, electronics, keys, valuables and a basic change of clothing rather than placing trip-critical items in an uncertain separate shipment.
  • If the pickup fails: contact the platform immediately, document the missed window and use an appropriate staffed carrier drop-off only when allowed by the booked service.

Coverage and claims: the policy has important limits

The insurance and claims sections state free coverage of up to US$250 per package, subject to loss and other conditions. Additional coverage may be offered by a carrier or third party, but the merchant says it does not decide those claims. Critically, the terms say that missing clear pre-transit photographs of the labeled package can downgrade even separately purchased coverage to the default amount without a refund of the premium difference. This is a contractual clause to review, not a promise of a US$250 payout in every case.

The same terms require a lost-shipment claim within five business days of the estimated delivery date and a damage claim within three business days after delivery, with documentation. Cosmetic damage to the suitcase as packaging, several fragile/electronic/valuable categories and delays have stated exclusions. Read the precise carrier/insurance documents as well; the merchant’s page alone does not establish all insurer obligations. See the conditions and exclusions.

What happens if I cancel or travel dates change?

The cancellation section promises a full refund only when cancellation occurs within 24 hours after placing the order and labels have not yet been provided. It says later cancellations or cases where labels were already provided are processed within 15 business days, but it does not clearly state that those later cases receive a full refund. Ask for the written refund amount before canceling. The modification section says edits are fee-free before processing, may cost up to US$20 after processing, and are generally unavailable after carrier pickup. Additional carrier charges can still apply.

Who should use it—and who should keep the bag with them?

  • More suitable: multiple bulky bags on a U.S. trip; a recipient who has explicitly agreed to accept them; nonessential contents; time to recover from a delay; a competitive written final quote.
  • Less suitable: the suitcase contains medicine, valuables or needed equipment; a ship-to-hotel recipient is uncertain; delivery is close to a wedding, cruise or first-day activity; the claim cap and exclusions are unacceptable.
  • Better non-affiliate choice for many travelers: use an included airline checked-bag allowance, downsize luggage or obtain a carrier quote directly if you can manage the logistics yourself.

For cross-border travel, the booking problem changes again: the merchant’s international terms put accurate customs information, duties, taxes and customs-related charges on the sender/receiver and exclude customs delays from its shipping-delay remedies. See the separate international luggage shipping checklist before deciding to send a suitcase across a border.

Five things to verify before booking LuggageToShip

  1. Confirm the company name, charge description, exact service level, origin and recipient on the final checkout documentation.
  2. Ask whether your route, zip code, luggage dimensions and contents are accepted; keep the final written rate and list of potential surcharges.
  3. Confirm who receives the bag, what arrival range they will accept, and the earliest date it becomes essential.
  4. Capture labeled package photos before handoff; understand the coverage downgrade rule and claims deadlines.
  5. Compare the written round-trip total with the airline’s real allowance and at least one available alternative; keep an essentials fallback.

Review LuggageToShip booking details

Bottom line: the service can reduce handling for some trips, but the financial value is impossible to judge without a route-specific quote, and its liability and claims terms do not replace a reliable bag-arrival plan.
